From Prof. Anant Mohan, Organizing Chairman
Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure and privilege to extend you a warm invitation to attend the “AIIMS PULMOCRIT 2025”: Update in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India in the 22 - 23 March 2025. This Update is being organized by the Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi. This invitation is well in advance to ensure your participation in the conference and also to facilitate your planning ahead. Over the last few years, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine has been evolving at a rapid pace and newer diagnostic and therapeutic modalities have been proposed for various disorders. Also, continuous research is on to improve our understanding of the mechanism of diseases in this field. In this scenario, it is extremely difficult, but nevertheless necessary to keep abreast with all the latest developments. Hence, we have planned this Update to bring to focus the recent advances in common clinical conditions. It shall be our endeavour to put together a rigorous and stimulating scientific program consisting of lectures, symposia, debates on ongoing controversies, as well as “How I do it” topics. The update would cover the entire spectrum of conditions related to Respiratory, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Some of the important topics which would be included are – Obstructive and Interstitial lung disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Lung cancer, Pneumonia, Interventional Pulmonology, Sleep Disorders, Tuberculosis and others. There will also be many hot topics in the field of Critical Care such as ventilator-associated pneumonia, neuromuscular weakness, difficult weaning etc. Ultrasound has become a indispensable tool in Critical Care, as a point of care test (POCUS) for managing unstable medical conditions, offering rapid diagnostic insights that can significantly impact patient care outcomes. Ultrasound guidance enhances safety of invasive interventions in the ICU, including insertion of vascular catheters and drainage of collections, and is also being increasingly used to complement clinical examination in managing rapidly deteriorating patients. Similarly, point of care echocardiography helps in diagnosis and hemodynamic management of critically ill patients. Therefore, hands on training programs on ultrasound in critical care are the need of the hour, to ensure adequate training of clinicians in ultrasound techniques across varied clinical scenarios, especially in critical care and emergency settings. Hence, a two-day “Worshop on Basic & Advanced Ultrasound in Critical Care” will be held on 20 - 21 March 2025 involving eminent international and national faculty. This will include extensive lecture-based plus hands-on workshops for comprehensive skill acquisition in ultrasound in critical care. Once, again, we extend a cordial welcome to all of you and assure you that we shall provide an enlightening scientific program for you to help your clinical practice. With warm regards Dr. Anant Mohan
